Practice Focus Cards
In my personal practice I have found it is beneficial to focus on only one aspect of technique and playing at a time. I have found I’m able to see more tangible progress. By playing with the intention of making progress with that ONE specific area and playing that ONE thing absolutely correctly you can feel assured that you have made progress.
These cards are divided into colour:
Red is about the bowing (bow strokes, articulation, direction, etc).
Orange is about the rhythm and keeping a steady beat
Yellow is Practice Inspiration
Dark Yellow are Practice Challenges
Bright Green is about the Shifting
Bright Blue is about the fingering (including finger patterns)
Dark Blue is about the dynamics
Purple is about the musicality and characterisation
Turquoise is about technique and posture
In this set there are 30 bowing cards, 20 rhythm cards, 40 fingering cards, 20 shifting cards, 10 dynamics cards and 20 musicality cards. There are also various files to print them out either using a coloured printer, or a black and white printer with coloured card. There is even an option to use white card and coloured markers if you don’t have a coloured printer or coloured card.
These cards will help guide your practice, and essentially teach you HOW to practice. I hope they help you add fun and colour to your practice!
