Musicality Inspiration from Around the World

A$10.00

This set of “Musicality Inspiration from Around the World” practice cards will add expression and imagination to playing review pieces or scales. I so hope it brings creativity and fun to your practice!!

First choose a piece or a scale to play, and then pick an “Around the World” card to use as inspiration for how you will play. The interpretation of the Ireland card verses the China card will inevitably be different. This is wonderful because as musicians we seek to have vivid contrasts in our playing so that it’s interesting for both us and the audience. Exaggerating musicality and characterisation is a learned skill. However, experimenting with these cards is a great place to start!

Use your creativity to take your playing beyond the “normal” and extend the vividness of your bowing with contrasting vibrato, bow strokes, bow speed and bow weight, articulation, contact points, ornamentation, rhythms and even taking it all further using extended techniques. Exaggerating various aspects of your playing will ensure your audience will clearly understand your intention.

The Around the World Inspiration Cards feature only a very small selection of what could be expanded into many more places. Please feel free to add your own cards to this set to expand your education about traditional world music.

In this set there are 30 cards from a place from Around the World. There are two sets included - one for coloured card, one for a coloured printer. Both sets designed to use with a hinged keyring.

These cards will help guide your practice, and essentially teach you HOW to practice with musicality. I hope they help you add fun and colour to your practice!

The purchase of this set of cards is for use by ONE teacher or ONE home. Sharing this PDF with others (including colleagues or students) is strictly forbidden. Replication in paper or digital formats of this PDF for commercial purposes is also strictly forbidden.
